Will Tristin triumph in London?
Tristin Farmer from Enverdale House Hotel, in Coupar Angus, has been selected by a panel of the UK’s top chefs, to go through to the next stage in the world-famous Roux Scholarship.
The 22-year-old head chef, who has also been selected for the finals of the Scottish Food Scholarship, has gained a place in the regional finals where he will be cooking in front Heston Blumenthal, Gary Rhodes and Brian Turner, as well as the Roux family. Tristin will try to impress the judges with a recipe of roast veal kidneys, brandy & mustard tagliatelle.
The first Roux scholar was Andrew Fairlie, back in 1984, and if Tristin gets the placement he will win £3,000 cash, three months training at a three Michelin-starred establishment in Europe and trips to New York, Champagne and Milan.
The Roux Scholarship semi-final is on the March 8 at Thames Valley University. Six chefs will be selected from three semi-finals to go through to the final on the April 2.
