Mouthwatering Mothers' Day Morsels
07/03/2007
Looking for a bit more than bath salts and bouquets for your mum this Mothers’ Day?
– Glasgow restaurant, The Sisters, is offering a special Mothers’ Day lunch on March 18 with a three-course a la carte menu aimed at mums...and their little darlings. Head chef Jacqueline O’Donnell, one of the sisters behind the Jordanhill and Kelvingrove restaurants, says: “We have young children so we know how important it is to be able to go out to a restaurant on Mothers' Day that both the parents and children enjoy. I don’t believe in chicken nuggets but we serve really good food using home-grown Scottish ingredients, which can be adapted for all ages.”
– Meanwhile, on the east coast, Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel is offering mums a Number One Lunch – a three course-menu created by executive chef Jeff Bland including coffee and petit fours – during March. Afterwards, mums can retire to the bar to sit back and sip a Mother’s Day champagne cocktail, called Absolutely Fabulous, created by The Balmoral’s mixologists.
– There's more sparkly fun to be had at the Roman Camp Country House Hotel and Restaurant, in Perthshire, which is offering mums a Champagne Afternoon Tea (presumably with optional snoozing). The package includes a glass of champagne, a round of sandwiches, home baked scones with fresh cream and jam and a choice of world teas.
– Edinburgh’s Bengali and Indian restaurant, Voujon, will take 20% off the food bill for any children paying for lunch for Mum on Sunday March 18.
