Scottish Food Fortnight Organisers Target Schools
29/03/2007
The Scottish Food Fortnight team are urging schools to teach children the values of healthy eating as part of this year’s event.
The organisers are suggesting a range of options to teachers to get kids into healthy and locally-sourced food, including organizing day trips to farms, harvest festivals, a Scottish menu for school dinners and chef visits.
Several schools have already teamed up with local chefs for small cookery demonstrations and organised child-friendly cookery lessons at restaurants.

+ Primary 7 students from St Monans School learnt about healthy eating and got an insight into the day-to-day running of a restaurant at The Seafood Restaurant, in St Monans, this week. After being shown how to fillet a fish, the children made their own fishcakes with tips from chef Craig Miller.
