Deuchars knocks the Competition for Six
29/03/2007
Scotland may not have made it through to the next stages of the 2007 Cricket World Cup but the country can be proud of a key player – at least in the world of real ale.
Deuchars IPA was crowned World Champion in an international taste test this week, where it was pitted against beers from the other countries taking part in the Cup.
Deuchars, made by the Caledonian Brewery, beat beers from Australia and Ireland in the quarter-final and semi-final stages and went head to head with the official beer of the England cricket team.
A spokesman for Deuchars IPA said; "The Scottish team did their best against stiff competition in the West Indies and we're delighted to have been associated with them throughout the tournament…if only sport could imitate the taste buds of the beer experts!"
