Sauce manufacturers would like to think a bacon sarnie is perfect with a squeeze of their brown or red stuff; others say it takes a good cut of free-range bacon.
Now, scientists at Leeds University have announced that they’ve discovered the formula for the 'perfect' bacon butty.
Researches at the department for food science spent some 1,000 hours testing different types of sandwich to come up with a mathematical formula.
Crunchiness was considered to be an important element among the 50 volunteer tasters (some people have a hard life), and they also stipulated that you should use two or three grilled rashers of back bacon and your bread should be between 1cm and 2cm thick.
