New Website Allows Breweries to Refresh Parts of UK other Beers Can’t Reach
12/04/2007
Locally brewed craft beers and ciders from Scotland are now available cask conditioned anywhere in the UK thanks to a unique new service.
Small breweries from all over the UK can, for the first time, sell their cask-conditioned beer and cider nationwide in special mini barrels from cellarmandirect.com. The first products on the new website include beers from Inveralmond Brewery, in Perth, and Peelwalls Cider from the Borders, as well as products from Mordue Brewery, in Wallsend, Tyne & Wear, and Wapping Beers from Liverpool.
The service is unique because special 5-litre mini barrels, with built in taps, known as 9 pinters, ensure the handcrafted beer and cider is delivered in the best possible condition. Whereas other mail-order beers come in bottles, often from central warehouses, cellarmandirect.com dispatches their beer or cider in the specially designed and recyclable barrels fresh from each brewery.
David Arthur, who recognised the growing demand for quality beer and cider from the smaller breweries, founded the website with craft beer expert Bob Hogg. David and Bob have more than 20 years combined experience in the drinks industry, previously working together at a senior level for Glenmorangie, promoting the benefits of quality malt whisky.
