Chinese or Indian? Bistro or brasserie? UK or abroad? If you’re struggling to choose which restaurant to go to then you’ve just been given a helping hand.

The S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants list has just been announced, revealing the best places to eat on earth – with eight of these in the UK.

The list is compiled by The Nespresso World's 50 Best Academy, a group of prominent food writers, critics, publishers and commentators, who each represent a different global region and chair a carefully selected voting panel for that region.

Closer to home, the 14th annual List Eating and Drinking Guide to Edinburgh and Glasgow has annouced its winners too, with newcomers The Kitchin and Bistro at One Devonshire Gardens named as Restaurants of the Year.
