A West Lothian farm is set to have its organic produce showcased across the States after a US film crew dropped in for lunch.

A family barbecue at Mrs Hamilton’s Organic Beef and Lamb, at Cairns Farm, near Kirknewton, was filmed at the weekend for travel cooking show Barbecue America, and will be aired on TV stations across the US and Canada next April.

Caroline Hamilton, who looks after 700 ewes and 50 cattle at the farm, said she was delighted by the visit saying: "The programme’s presenter Rick Browne was so full of enthusiasm for our meat, how we farm and the type of animals we rear. You could see he would have liked to put up his shirtsleeves and start cooking there and then!"

Barbecue America also filmed at various locations across Edinburgh and Lothians, highlighting some of the best local producers and suppliers of beef, lamb, fish, cheese and whisky.
