Celebrity chef Nick Nairn has chosen Inchmarlo near Banchory as the location for his new cookschool in response to customer demand.

Nairn has been looking to expand from his Trossachs base at Lake of Montieth for some time, and considered Edinburgh and Glasgow in his choice of locations, but it seems market forces have led him to the north.

Nick said: "We discovered about four or five years ago that we had a disproportionate number of people coming to the cookery school from the north east. I think there seems to be a heightened interest in cooking there." The new school is expected to open in 2009.
