Fruity Diet for Australian Cows
15/01/2007
Ask for a steak in Oz and you might get a free glass of wine, to boot, thanks to some enterprising farmers.
A herd of pedigree cows in the Margaret River region are being fed red wine in an effort to improve the taste of their meat. Farmers are adding a litre to the feed of their Wagyu cows to produce prized (and premium priced) marbled steaks.
The farmers have suggested it makes their cows “more contented” too. Quelle surprise?
