Hunt is on for the Ultimate Food Love Affair

14/02/2007

Love is in the air at allfoodscotland.com. We’re on the hunt for the best relationship between a local supplier and a chef or caterer – the ultimate Food Love Affair – and there’s £1,000 up for grabs.

Allfoodscotland.com is calling on foodies to nominate their favourite local restaurant, pub, café or school canteen that loves to source local produce, and has a great relationship with local suppliers. Caterers who believe that their relationship has the right spark can also nominate themselves.

For example, you might already have a Food Love Affair like the Steam Packet Inn on the Isle of Whithorn, in Dumfries and Galloway, who literally wave the fishermen out and welcome them home with their fresh catch for the pub’s kitchen. Run by the Scoular family for more than 25 years, the pub is the first port of call for the daily catch of crabs, lobsters, lemon sole and squid, and owner Alasdair Scoular sources wild game from neighbouring estates and herbs from his mum’s garden.

He says: “It makes good business sense to support local producers and businesses. You cut out the middle man and give something back to the local economy, which can only benefit your business in the long run.”

The winning Food Love Affair venue will win £1,000 and an advert in the AllFoodScotland.com Yearbook.

EMAIL YOUR NOMINATIONS TO lovefood@allfoodscotland.com

Or, nominate directly via the comment box at the bottom of this page. Remember to include the name and address of the venue being nominated and as much detail as you can about why you think they/you should win £1,000.

Terms and conditions

Any connection between a local supplier and a local catering outlet can be
nominated. The outlet must serve hot or cold food for consumption that
requires no further preperation. While we accept people may wish to notify
