Ballencrieff Pigs: hot to trot
“We don't really have much time to eat out but over the past year we’ve eaten three times at Greywalls Hotel, in Gullane – which we supply with our sausages and bacon.
We’ve been overwhelmed by the standard of the service and the quality of the food here. We just love it. The staff make you feel really special and the house and gardens are so unusual. There's no glass and stainless steel here – just pure luxury and comfort. We can't wait until we visit again.”
– Peter and Elma McLaren run Ballencrieff Rare Breed Pig Farm, in Longniddry, where old-fashioned pigs are farmed in the old-fashioned way. Sows and piglets are allowed to roam free outside and are given homemade feed – including, on occasion, chocolate biscuits!
