My Top Table – Wilson Logan

“My favourite place to eat out is probably the Ho Wong in Glasgow. I first went there for my 18 birthday with my girlfriend. I’d been saving for about two months and it was the first occasion where I really pushed the boat out and was not at all disappointed. We had the five-course ‘Imperial Banquet’. It cost £25 per person – quite a sum for an 18 year old in 1983 but, as it turned out, worth every penny.

Of course I've been many times since and it never fails to impress. After all these years the standard of the food and service has never wavered and I cannot say that about any other restaurant.

French & Logan owes its existence to the Ho Wong. My best friends Charles and I went there for his 35th birthday. On a whim we tried the Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett. We finished it before the first course had arrived. That bottle of wine was the spark to make us visit the Mosel, and the rest is history...”

Wilson Logan runs French & Logan online wine merchants that specializes solely in German Reislings. He set up the business six years ago with friend and business partner Charles French after an impromptu holiday to Germany triggered off a love affair with Riesling. Based in Paisley, they hold regular tastings in Glasgow.
